A dental emergency is generally anything causing severe pain, significant swelling, signs of infection, or trauma to the teeth or mouth. If you are unsure whether your situation is urgent, contact Seaham Smiles on +44 191 581 2236 and the team can help you assess what to do next.
Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, and either reinsert it into the socket or keep it moist in milk or saliva. Contact a dentist immediately, the sooner you are seen, the better the chance of saving the tooth. Time is the most critical factor in this type of injury.
A&E departments in the UK are not generally equipped to provide routine dental treatment, but it is appropriate if you have severe facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or other serious symptoms alongside dental pain. For dental treatment itself, contact Seaham Smiles or call NHS 111 for guidance on accessing urgent care.
